Fair Employment - Division of Human Rights

(NY Exec. App. §466.1) - Every employer, employment agency,
labor organization, and labor-management committee subject to the
Human Rights Law, shall post and maintain at its offices, places of
employment or employment training centers, notices furnished by the
Division of Human Rights, indicating the substantive provisions of
the Human Rights Law, the place where complaints may be filed and
such other information as the Division of Human Rights deems
pertinent.

Minimum Wage - Division of Labor Standards

(NY Labor §661) - Every employer shall keep true and accurate
records of hours worked by each employee covered by an hourly
minimum wage rate, the wages paid to all employees, and such other
information as the commissioner deems material and necessary, and
shall, on demand, furnish to the commissioner or his duly
authorized representative a sworn statement of the same. Every
employer shall keep such records open to inspection by the
commissioner or his duly authorized representative at any
reasonable time. Every employer of an employee shall keep a digest
and summary of this article or applicable wage order, which shall
be prepared by the commissioner, posted in a conspicuous place in
his establishment and shall also keep posted such additional copies
of said digest and summary as the commissioner prescribes.
Employers shall, on request, be furnished with copies of this
article and of orders, and of digests and summaries thereof,
without charge. Employers shall permit the commissioner or his duly
authorized representative to question any employee of such employer
in the place of employment and during working hours in respect to
the wages paid to and the hours worked by such employee or other
employees.

Right To Know - New York State Department of

(NY Labor §876) - 1. Every employer shall post a sign in every
workplace at the location or locations where notices to employees
are normally posted, to inform employees that they have a right to
information from their employer regarding the toxic substances
found in the workplace and a description of the toxic effects of
these substances and the circumstances under which these effects
are produced.

who fails to comply with the provisions of this article shall be
liable for a civil penalty not to exceed ten thousand dollars in
addition to any other damages for which an employer may be liable
pursuant to any other provision of law.

(NY Labor §195) - 1. notify his or her employees, in writing, at
the time of hiring of the rate of pay and of the regular pay day
designated by the employer in accordance with section one hundred
ninety-one of this article, and obtain a written acknowledgement
from each employee of receipt of this notice. Such acknowledgement
shall conform to any requirements established by the commissioner
with regard to content and form. For all employees who are eligible
for overtime compensation as established in the commissioner's
minimum wage orders or otherwise provided by law or regulation, the
notice must state the regular hourly rate and overtime rate of pay;
2. notify his employees of any changes in the pay days prior to the
time of such changes; 3. furnish each employee with a statement
with every payment of wages, listing gross wages, deductions and
net wages, and upon the request of an employee furnish an
explanation of how such wages were computed; 3-a. in addition,
every railroad corporation shall furnish each employee with a
statement with every payment of wages listing accrued total
earnings and taxes to date and further furnish said employee at the
same time with a separate listing of his daily wages and how they
were computed; 4. establish, maintain and preserve for not less
than three years payroll records showing the hours worked, gross
wages, deductions and net wages for each employee; 5. notify his
employees in writing or by publicly posting the employer's policy
on sick leave, vacation, personal leave, holidays and hours; 6.
notify any employee terminated from employment, in writing, of the
exact date of such termination as well as the exact date of
cancellation of employee benefits connected with such termination.
In no case shall notice of such termination be provided more than
five working days after the date of such termination. Failure to
notify an employee of cancellation of accident or health insurance
subjects an employer to an additional penalty pursuant to section
two hundred seventeen of this chapter.
