Alaska Unemployment
Insurance
11/20/09 - The Alaska Unemployment Insurance poster has been
updated to reflect percentage changes to the unemployment insurance
premiums (taxes) paid by employees and employers. An employee now
pays 27% of the unemployment insurance premiums and the employer
pays 73% of the unemployment insurance premiums. There were also
some web address changes on the poster. This is a
mandatory change.

increase in the state minimum wage. The state minimum wage was

the recently signed legislation that reforms Alabama's child labor
enforcement standards and transfers the work permit process from
the public school system to the Alabama Department of Labor. The
new legislation also replaces child work permits with business
certificates and allows the department of labor to issue civil
money penalties and/or prosecution for any violation of the law.

regulations. Some additional rewording was also made to the poster.

CO Poster Changes
Colorado Minimum
Wage
12/10/09 - The Colorado Minimum Wage poster has been updated to
reflect the state minimum wage for 2010. The Colorado Department of
Labor and Employment has decreased the current state minimum wage
rate from $7.28 an hour to $7.24 an hour effective January 1, 2010.
The poster does make it clear that if an employee is covered by
both state and federal minimum wage laws, the law which provides a
higher minimum wage or sets a higher standard will apply. The
tipped employee minimum wage has also been decreased from $4.26 to
$4.22 an hour effective January 1, 2010.

10/13/09 - The Colorado Unemployment Insurance poster was updated
with information regarding the right to be properly classified as
an employee. A new law permits any person to file a written
complaint with the state's Department of Labor and Employment
alleging an employer is misclassifying an employee as an
independent contractor. The poster was updated with information on
who to contact, the complaint process available to an employee and
the fines for first offense. The poster was also updated with new
phone numbers and other minor changes. We continually strive to

FL Poster Changes
Florida Minimum Wage EFL2B
11/06/09 - The Florida Minimum Wage poster has been updated with
information regarding the 2010 Florida minimum wage. The
poster now clarifies that Florida minimum wage is recalculated
yearly on September 30 based on the Consumer Price Index but in
2009 the new federal minimum wage took effect. In deciding
whether the federal or state minimum wage applies, federal law
dictates that businesses must pay the higher of the two. The
federal minimum wage will prevail over the state until such time as
the Florida minimum wage becomes higher than the federal rate.
This is a mandatory change.

reflect a new web address for the Florida Department of Business
and Professional Regulation. This is a nonmandatory

06/17/10 - The New Jersey Payment of Wages was updated to reflect
additional provisions granted to the Commissioner of the Department
of Labor and Workforce Development. If the Commissioner determines
that an employer has knowingly failed to maintain and report all
records required by law regarding wages, benefits, and taxes and,
as a result, has failed to pay employees what they are afforded by
law, the Commissioner can suspend an employer's license to conduct
business.

in a civil union. Under current law, any eligible employee may take

health condition. With the new civil union law, a person in a civil
union will be able to take the same amount of leave to care for his
or her partner with a serious health condition.

market value of meals and lodging and for an item in which an

07/10/07 - In addition to the Federal Minimum Wage posting change,
the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage poster was updated to reflect an
increase in the state minimum wage for small employers (those who
employ 10 or fewer full-time workers). The minimum wage was
increased to $6.65 an hour effective July 1, 2007, $7.15 an hour
effective July 1, 2008, and $7.25 an hour effective July 24, 2009.
The poster was also updated to reflect an increase in the 60-day
youth training wage. It will increase to $5.85 an hour on July 24,
2007 and to $6.55 an hour on July 24, 2008. The state also added
the 2009 minimum wage rate to the poster.

West Virginia
Unemployment Insurance
07/24/08 - The West Virginia Unemployment Insurance poster was
updated with additional information regarding wage classes, weekly
benefit rates, and maximum benefit rates. The agency also changed
some of their claims offices from full-time claims offices to
itinerant claims points.
West Virginia Minimum
Wage
07/10/06 - The poster was updated to reflect new minimum wage
rates. Beginning July 1, 2006, the minimum wage rate will increase
to $5.85 per hour. The minimum wage will increase to $6.55 per hour
on July 1, 2007, and again to $7.25 per hour on July 1, 2008. All
three rates are on the poster. State minimum wage law does not
apply to employers if eighty percent of their employees are subject
to the FLSA. Most employers are subject to FLSA
West Virginia
Workers' Compensation
05/16/06 - A law was passed to abolish the West Virginia Workers'
Compensation Commission and replace it with a private insurance
company called BrickStreet. The poster was updated to reflect that
BrickStreet is the new workers' compensation insurance carrier for
employers in the state.

2008. The disability section of the poster was also clarified to
comply with the ADA Amendments Act.

12/12/08 - The federal FMLA poster was updated with information
explaining job-protected leave rights for employees who care for
covered service members with a serious injury or illness, or who
face"qualifying exigencies" because a covered military member is on
active duty or has been notified of an impending call or order to
active duty.
Fair Labor Standards
Act
7/3/07 - The Federal Minimum Wage poster was updated to reflect the
three-step increase in federal minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 an
hour over the next two years.
